About Closeout Boots

Garmont G Ride G-fit (2004-5):

An A.T. / mountaineering boot that is virtually the same as the current model (see Catalog Boot section), except for minor tweaks to the cuff, and graphics.

Garmont Ener-G G-fit (2002-3):

Virtually identical to the current model (see Catalog Boot section), except for the reversed lower buckle, and a minor tweak to the liner.

Garmont Excursion (2004-5):

Identical to the current Excursion, except for the inclusion of a standard—non G-fit—liner.

Garmont Gara History:

Changes in the Gara since it’s introduction in ’97 relate, almost entirely, to small incremental improvements to its foam liner. The evolution is as follows: the ’98 liner removed some of the soft exterior foam of the previous year’s liner, replacing it with a stiffer foam for added structural definition, creating an extremely well developed (overbuilt?) heel pocket; the ’99 model removed some of the excess structural foam from the previous liner, making for a quicker, more easily recognized fit, but in the process unintentionally making the liner about 1/8” shorter; the ‘oo and ’01 liners are identical, benefiting from a more squared-off “moccasin” toe-box, and a more sculptured lower heel relief that contributes to a better heel-hold when the boot is flexed.

Garmont Veloce: same changes as the Gara (see above)

Garmont GSM:

the three-buckle forerunner of the current line of A.T. Mountaineering boots, featuring one of the highest quality ski boot liners ever built, and a shell designed to do everything—ski, climb, walk—well.

Scarpa T-1 (’98):

A good all-round boot that has a better forward flex, and is more versatile than the current T-1.
